We had a terrific first annual event reaching 114 in attendance. Having been involved with similar first year events in the Tampa area, 114 attendees is a significant achievement which will only grow even bigger next year.
I hope that each of you learned something useful and had fun. A special thanks to our speakers and team of volunteers. We’ve asked our speakers to make their presentation material available on their blogs. See the speakers blog page.
Our sponsors deserve our appreciate for their willingness to help pay for the incidental costs of our event. Community-driven events cost thousands dollars to host and we are only able to make them free to our attendees through their support. I’d like to thank K-Force for providing a wonderful venue and extremely helpful staff.
The following companies provided funding support:
- Shavlik who also presented a very information session on 3rd Party Software Patching using SCCM and Shavlik. If you’re an SCCM shop, be sure to check out their offerings to help you manage 3rd party software updates
- Raymond James Financial, (my employer) for providing funding and also supporting IT community involvement of not only me, but the six other employees who volunteered or presented sessions.
- Microsoft and of course Blain Barton for getting this whole thing started. It was his idea to kick start the first ever IT Camp to meet the needs the IT Pro community. Blain was instrumental in rounding up speakers, sponsors, attendees and helping organize things.
In reviewing your comments to help us plan for next year many of you stated “do it again next year or closer to where I live” — We will, until then thanks for making the Tampa 2011 IT Camp a memorable event.
